How to Measure for Your Custom Bamboo Blinds

Measuring your windows or French doors for bamboo blinds doesn’t have to be tricky. Follow this simple guide, and you’ll have the perfect fit every time.


1. Preparation

Before you start measuring, make sure you have:

  • Steel tape measure (we recommend inches for a more precise fit)
  • Paper and pen (to record your measurements)
  • Level (to ensure your measurements are straight)


2. Choosing the Installation Location

Decide whether you’ll install your bamboo blinds on a window or a door.

2.1 For Windows

Width Measurement (A, B, C):
Measure the width at the top, middle, and bottom of the window. Use the smallest measurement as your final width.

If the width includes 1/16" or 1/32" increments, round down to the nearest 1/8".

Height Measurement (D, E, F):
Measure the height on the left, middle, and right side of the window. Use the smallest measurement as your final height.

If the height includes 1/16" or 1/32" increments, round down to the nearest 1/8".

2.2 For French Doors

Measure these three key dimensions:

  • Height Measurement (A):Distance from the top of the door to the top of the glass panel
  • Width Measurement (B):Distance from the left edge of the glass to the right edge
  • Measurement (C):Distance from the top of the door to the bottom of the glass panel

The measurement method is similar to window measurements.


3. Inside or Outside Mount ?


  • Window depth < 2 3/4" → only outside mount is possible
  • Window depth ≥ 2 3/4" → inside or outside mount is possible
  • French doors → only outside mount

Note: For outside mount on French doors, the distance from the top of the door to the top of the glass (Measurement (C))must be at least 1"


4. Determining Your Order Size

4.1 Inside Mount (Windows)

  • Order Width = Window Width − 1/2"
  • Order Height = Window Height
  • Window frame depth ≥ 2 3/4"

If the width or height includes 1/16" or 1/32" increments, round down to the nearest 1/8".

Example:

  • Window Width = 35 11/16" → Order Width = 35 5/8"
  • Window Height = 75 11/16" → Order Height = 75 5/8"

Don’t worry about extra deductions — our factory will handle all adjustments for a perfect inside mount.


4.2 Outside Mount (Windows)

  • Visual effect: Makes the window appear taller
  • No minimum depth requirement
  • Order Width = Window Width + 6"
  • Order Height = Window Height + 6"

If the height includes 1/16" or 1/32" increments, round up to the nearest 1/8".

Example:

  • Window Width = 35 11/16" → Order Width = 41 3/4"
  • Window Height = 75 11/16" → Order Height = 81 3/4"

Our factory will make all necessary adjustments for a flawless outside mount.


4.3 Outside Mount (French Doors)

  • No minimum depth requirement
  • Order Width = Glass Width (left to right of the panel)
  • Order Height = Glass Height + 6"

Round the height up to the nearest 1/8" if it includes 1/16" or 1/32" increments

Example:

  • Glass Width = 35 11/16" → Order Width = 35 3/4"
  • Glass Height = 75 11/16" → Order Height = 81 3/4"

No extra deductions needed — this ensures a perfect fit and a polished look.


5. Final Tips

  • Double-check your measurements before ordering
  • Keep a record of all measurements and notes
