Want to create soft, beautiful light in your home while maintaining privacy and style? Custom dual sheer blinds are the perfect choice. With accurate measurements, your blinds will fit your windows flawlessly, adding elegance and functionality to any room.

1. Preparation

Before measuring, make sure you have:

  • A precise metal tape measure
  • Paper and pen to record dimensions
  • A ladder (if your windows are tall)

Tip: Accurate measurements are the first step to a perfect custom fit—it directly affects installation and appearance!

2. Choosing the Installation Location

Decide whether you’ll install your sheer blinds on a window or a door.

2.1 For Windows

Width Measurement (A, B, C):
Measure the width at the top, middle, and bottom of the window. Use the smallest measurement as your final width.

If the width includes 1/16" or 1/32" increments, round down to the nearest 1/8".

Height Measurement (D, E, F):
Measure the height on the left, middle, and right side of the window. Use the smallest measurement as your final height.

If the height includes 1/16" or 1/32" increments, round down to the nearest 1/8".

2.2 For French Doors

Measure these three key dimensions:

  • Width Measurement (B):Distance from the top of the door to the top of the glass panel
  • Height Measurement (A):Distance from the left edge of the glass to the right edge
  • Measurement (C):Distance from the top of the glass to the bottom of the glass panel

The measurement method is similar to window measurements.

3. Inside Mount VS Outside Mount – Which One Should I Choose?

The depth of your window frame is the key factor in deciding between an inside or outside mount:

  • Less than 3 1/8 inches: choose an outside mount.
  • More than 3 1/8 inches: for better light blocking, an outside mount is recommended.

Note: For outside mount on French doors, the distance from the top of the door to the top of the glass(Measurement (C)) must be at least 1"

3.1 Inside Mount – How to Measure 📏

  • Order Width = Window Width - 1/2"
  • Order Height = Window Height
  • Window frame depth ≥ 3 1/8 inches
  • If the width has a 1/16" or 1/32" increment, round down to the nearest 1/8"

Example:

  • Window Width = 35 11/16", Order Width = 35 5/8"
  • Window Height = 75 11/16", Order Height = 75 5/8"

Note: No need to make your own deductions — our factory will handle all fitting adjustments for an ideal inside mount.

3.2 Outside Mount – How to Measure 📏

  • Creates a taller, more dramatic appearance.
  • No minimum depth requirement.
  • Ordered Width = Window Width + 8"
  • Ordered Height = Window Height + 8"
  • If the height has a 1/16" or 1/32" increment, round up to the nearest 1/8"

Example:

  • Window Width = 35 11/16", Order Width = 43 3/4"
  • Window Height = 75 11/16", Order Height = 83 3/4"

Note: No need to make your own deductions — our factory will handle all fitting adjustments for an ideal outside mount.

3.3 Outside Mount (French Doors)

  • Note: For French doors, only outside mount is applicable. The distance from the top of the door to the top of the glass (Measurement C) must be at least 1 inch to allow enough space for drilling and securely fixing the sheer shades with screws.
  • Order Width = Glass Width (left to right of the panel)
  • Order Height = Glass Height + 6"

Round the height up to the nearest 1/8" if it includes 1/16" or 1/32" increments

Example:

  • Glass Width = 35 11/16" → Order Width = 35 3/4"
  • Glass Height = 75 11/16" → Order Height = 81 3/4"

No extra deductions needed — this ensures a perfect fit and a polished look.
